Last updated November 2026. A Bali helicopter tour is a scenic flight over the coast, islands or volcanoes, and the operator we checked lists flights from 10 to 100 minutes. Pricing is per seat on that operator's page, so a couple pays double and a short hop still costs Rp 1,990,000 or more per person. Use this guide to match a route to your budget and base, and to see who should skip it.

Seat or private charter?

Balicopter prices per seat. A different operator's snippet for a 12-minute Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue to Uluwatu Temple route showed Rp 6,500,000 for 4 people and Rp 8,250,000 for 6. That reads as a per-flight price, and we could not verify the operator, so confirm it directly. Split across 4 people, Rp 6,500,000 is Rp 1,625,000 each. Compare that with a per-seat fare for the same duration. Couples planning a proposal should ask about a private option. Read about the statue's park on the Garuda Wisnu Kencana site.

Which flight should you choose?

Start with your goal, then your time and budget. Short coastline hops of 10 to 15 minutes fit first-timers and photo moments. Mid-length flights of 35 to 55 minutes cover Uluwatu with Canggu, or Nusa Penida. Long circuits of 75 to 100 minutes add volcanoes and temples. Cost per minute barely falls past 45 minutes, so pick the length you will use rather than chasing a discount. Groups of four or more should price a charter against four seats. Couples can browse a private Bali tour for ground-based romance.

Tip

Short hops of 10 to 15 minutes start at Rp 1,990,000 from Canggu, the cheapest entry point on the menu.

Departure points and getting there

The operator's site shows bases at Nusa Dua (Sawangan, Badung), Canggu (Beraban, Tabanan) and South Kuta (Pecatu). It also shows Gili Trawangan. Whether every tour departs from every base is not confirmed, so check your route's departure point. Pick the base nearest your hotel. Bali traffic is unpredictable, so allow generous buffer time before a fixed departure slot. Rank 4 in search pitches helicopters as a way to beat road traffic. Ask for a transfer quote and compare it with a car before assuming it saves time. Planning a cliff-side day on land? See our Uluwatu Tours: Which Type Fits Your Day (Sunset, Kecak, Beach).

Best time to fly and weather

Cloud can hide volcano summits, haze can flatten coastal views, and wet-season showers can delay flights. We have no sourced month-by-month data, so ask the operator what it does when cloud covers the route. Check forecasts through BMKG, Indonesia's weather agency. Volcano alerts can also change routes. Ask about rescheduling or refunds before paying. For general destination context, see Indonesia Travel. Who should skip it, and mistakes to avoid

Skip a helicopter if you are on a tight budget, prone to motion sickness, or wary of small aircraft. Do not expect a guaranteed clear view. Avoid these mistakes.

  • Booking a 10-minute flight and expecting volcano views.
  • Comparing a per-seat fare with a whole-aircraft charter price.
  • Not asking about tax, insurance and transfers.
  • Skipping weight, age and child-rule questions.
  • Not confirming the weather policy.
  • Not checking the operator's licensing with Indonesian civil aviation sources.

Cheaper ways to see Bali from above

A flight can cost the same as several days of activities. For height on a smaller budget, try Bali Paragliding: Best Spots, Season & Tandem Tips. Water views come from parasailing. Slower options include a catamaran trip or a sunset cruise. Inland scenery is easier to reach with Ubud Tours: Best Types, Costs & How to Choose. Browse everything in our Bali tours hub.

Good to know

Rp 1,990,000 to Rp 20,999,000 per seat is the spread to weigh against cheaper options like paragliding, parasailing, or a catamaran trip before you commit.
