Last updated November 2026. Munduk weather is cooler and mistier than Bali's south coast, with a drier season from roughly May to September and a wetter one from roughly November to March. Highland elevation in the Buleleng mountains explains the difference, and it shapes when you hike, what you pack and how much you pay. Not sure the trip is worth it? Our guide on whether Munduk is worth visiting covers that.

Munduk sits in the Buleleng mountains, so mornings are often clear and afternoons cloud over. Competitor figures put temperatures near 19–25°C (66–77°F) all year. Treat that as a rough guide and check Indonesia's BMKG weather agency for current forecasts. Season boundaries shift from year to year, so check a forecast 2-3 days before any outdoor plan.

Is Munduk Colder Than the Rest of Bali?

Yes. Altitude keeps Munduk cooler than coastal areas such as Seminyak, Kuta and Canggu. Evenings can feel chilly even in the dry months, when daytime highs reach about 25°C (77°F). Cool mornings sit near 19°C (66°F). Pack a light jacket whatever the month. Mist drifts in most afternoons in the wet season. Dry Season (Roughly May to September): Best for Views and Treks

Expect long dry spells, open valley views and firmer trails. Competitor sources point to August as the driest month. Demand and prices climb in July and August. One travel-site estimate lists hotels at Rp900,000 to Rp1,800,000 per night then, against Rp500,000 to Rp1,100,000 in December and January. Treat those as indicative and check current rates before booking. Start waterfall walks early, then flex the afternoon. Ideas for each condition are in our guide to 8 Things to Do in Munduk: Waterfalls, Lakes & Plan.

Rainy Season (Roughly November to March): Waterfalls, Mist and Slippery Trails

You can still visit. Waterfalls run at their fullest, and villages are quiet. Rain is heaviest around December and January, per competitor sources. Daytime temperatures stay near 24°C (75°F). Trails near waterfalls turn slippery, and mountain roads slow down.

  • Start before 8 am to beat afternoon cloud.
  • Wear shoes with real grip, and carry a rain layer.
  • Add a buffer day for slow, winding roads.
  • Hire a driver rather than riding a scooter in rain.
