Last updated November 2026. Nusa Dua beaches face east, sit behind an offshore reef and line a resort district that feels calmer than Kuta or Seminyak. Families, couples and sunrise seekers get the most from them, while surfers and nightlife fans should look elsewhere. Use this guide to compare the main beach, Geger Beach, Water Blow and the nearby Bukit Peninsula sands, then pair it with our wider Nusa Dua things to do guide.

Nusa Dua Beaches at a Glance

Nusa Dua is a planned resort area in Badung, on the east coast of the Bukit Peninsula. One competitor guide describes more than twenty resort hotels along its sand. Because it faces east, mornings are the best time for light and calm. Water Blow is a coastal viewpoint rather than a swimming beach. Treat "Nusa Dua beaches" as a handful of different stretches, each with its own job. The table below summarises them. Cells marked "check locally" have no verified detail yet.

The Main Nusa Dua Beach: Calm Water, Sunrise and Resort Frontage

Pantai Nusa Dua is the stretch most people mean by Nusa Dua Beach. Travel guides say the offshore coral reef blocks large waves, which makes the water comfortable for wading and for children. Treat that as a general description, not a guarantee. Tide height changes how deep the water is, so check a tide table from Indonesia's weather agency BMKG before you go. Sunrise works well here because the beach faces east. Resort frontage runs along much of the sand. Loungers and food usually belong to the hotel in front of you. Those who want a deliberate day on a lounger can compare options in our Nusa Dua Beach Clubs: How to Choose, Costs & Access guide. Snorkeling and water sports such as parasailing and jet skiing are listed by travel guides. Operators and rates change, so confirm both on the day.

Geger Beach, Pura Gegar Bluff and Water Blow

Geger Beach lies on the south side. One older newspaper feature calls it roughly a kilometre of golden sand fronting the golf course, so confirm what you find on arrival. From here a path climbs a bluff to Pura Gegar, with views over the water. Our Nusa Dua temples page covers temple etiquette. Water Blow is a limestone headland where waves force spray upward. It is a viewing spot only. Stay well back from the edge, because wave strength depends on tide and swell. Late afternoon is a sensible time for photos. Nusa Dua Beach Grill is named by competitors as a seafood stop south of Geger Beach. Confirm it is still open before building a plan around it.

Nearby Bukit Beaches Worth a Short Trip

Pantai Pandawa and Pantai Gunung Payung sit outside Nusa Dua proper, a short drive away. A 2018 feature described Pandawa as often deserted and Gunung Payung as a quiet lagoon. That description is dated, so expect more visitors now. Check access routes, parking and entry fees locally before you set off. Our Day Trips From Nusa Dua: Best Options, Times & Logistics guide helps if you want to combine these beaches with other stops. Skip these if you only have a morning free. The main beach and Geger Beach already fill that time.

Match the stretch to your priority rather than hopping between all of them.

  • Families with kids: the main beach, because its reef-protected water is described as calm. Choose a tide that leaves enough depth.
  • Couples: sunrise on the main beach, then a late-afternoon walk to the Geger and Pura Gegar bluff.
  • Snorkelers and water-sports fans: the main beach, with a licensed operator confirmed locally.
  • Photographers: Water Blow in late afternoon and Pura Gegar for views.
  • Budget travelers: walk the sand and the bluff, and see our Free Things to Do in Nusa Dua: Beaches, Temples and Zero-Spend Routes.
  • Surf seekers: head to Nusa Dua surf spots or another Bali area.

Costs, Access and Opening Hours

Sponsored

No verified entry fees, parking charges or opening hours are available for these beaches. Check access rules locally and ask your hotel about public entry points. The resort-area manager ITDC publishes information on Nusa Dua. Sitting on the sand is the low-cost option, while loungers and meals add to the bill. Our guide to whether Nusa Dua is worth visiting helps you weigh that trade-off.

Getting There and Around

Competitor guides put Nusa Dua 15–20 km from Ngurah Rai Airport, or 20–40 minutes by car depending on traffic. One undated page quotes an airport taxi at around Rp120,000, so treat that as a rough guide only. Another source puts Nusa Dua 40 km from Denpasar. Check current flight and transfer details at the Ngurah Rai Airport site. Ride-hailing, taxis, scooters and hotel shuttles all work for short hops. Details are in our Getting Around Nusa Dua: Airport, Taxis, Apps & Walking guide. A free shuttle between the Bali Collection and Nusa Dua hotels is reported, but confirm it with your hotel. Jalan Pantai Mengiat and the Bali Collection suit a break from the sand. See Shopping in Nusa Dua: Where to Shop and What to Buy for ideas.

Tip

Depending on traffic, expect 20–40 minutes by car from the airport, so reach the east-facing main beach early enough to catch sunrise.

Best Time of Day and Season

Early morning gives soft light and calmer surroundings, and the east-facing sand suits sunrise. Midday sun is harsh, so bring shade, sunscreen and water. Late afternoon fits Water Blow. For monthly weather and crowd patterns, read when to visit Nusa Dua.

Mistakes to Avoid and Safety Notes

Sponsored

A few habits cause most problems on this coast.

  • Assuming every stretch is swimmable. Water Blow is not.
  • Standing near the Water Blow edge, especially at certain tides.
  • Staying out in midday sun with no shade.
  • Booking tours that mostly leave Nusa Dua when you wanted beach time.
  • Ignoring hotel-frontage access rules at the main beach.
  • Carrying valuables onto the sand. Lifeguard presence is unverified, so check locally.
