Last updated November 2026. Bali cafes cluster in three areas: Canggu for laptop work and big breakfasts, Seminyak for a short espresso stop, and Ubud for plant-based menus and specialty coffee. Our quick answer: base yourself in one area per morning, pick the cafe by need, and treat every opening hour below as something to confirm. For the wider food picture, our broader eating guide covers restaurants beyond cafes.

How to Choose Between Bali Cafes

Match the cafe to the job. Wifi, seating and crowds matter more than the menu for a work morning. For a slow brunch, pick the area first, then the cafe. We have not tested wifi speeds, so we only mention it where a source supports it.

Canggu, Berawa and Batu Bolong Cafes

Canggu is the densest cluster and our default for a first cafe morning. One source puts it about 15 minutes north of Seminyak, but that is traffic-dependent. Berawa's main strip, Jl. Pantai Berawa, holds several picks within a short walk. Nude sits at No. 33, Milk & Madu at No. 52 and Cinta Cafe at No. 69. One source lists Nude as open 7am to 10pm and describes both an air-conditioned room and outdoor seating. Hours change often, so confirm before you go. Nearer Batu Bolong, Crate Cafe is widely described as the best-known Canggu cafe for large breakfast portions. The Lawn also sits in this area, so check its current menu and hours before planning around it.

  • Nude, Jl. Pantai Berawa No. 33: AC room and outdoor seating, a good laptop fallback.
  • Milk & Madu, Jl. Pantai Berawa No. 52: open-air and described as kid-friendly.
  • Cinta Cafe, Jl. Pantai Berawa No. 69: busy mornings with a mix of visitors and remote workers.
  • Crate Cafe: big western breakfast portions and smoothies.
  • Cafe Organic, Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong No. 58: plant-based menu.

Seminyak Cafes: A Short Espresso Stop

Seminyak works better for a quick coffee than for a long cafe crawl. Our verified pick is Revolver Espresso on Jl. Kayu Aya. Other names circulate in Seminyak roundups, but we could not confirm them, so we leave them out. Check any Seminyak venue on Google Maps before you commit a morning to it. Since Canggu is roughly 15 minutes north in light traffic, pair Seminyak with a late-morning move rather than a second breakfast.

Ubud Cafes: Plant-Based and Specialty Coffee

Ubud moves at a different pace. Menus lean vegetarian and plant-based, and coffee gets more attention. Seniman Coffee Studio on Jl. Sriwedari is our specialty-coffee anchor, and its own site is the place to check current hours. Clear Cafe at Jl. Hanoman No. 8 is described as vegetarian-leaning, with wraps and smoothie bowls. One source also reports a Canggu branch. For more meat-free options, see our guide to plant-based menus across the island.

Best Bali Cafes by Need

Here are our picks, each tied to a fact above. For laptop work, we'd start at Nude, since a source describes both outdoor seating and an AC room. For a big breakfast, we'd choose Crate Cafe or Cinta Cafe. For specialty coffee, we'd go to Seniman in Ubud or Revolver in Seminyak. For plant-based food, we'd pick Clear Cafe in Ubud or Cafe Organic in Canggu. For families, we'd try Milk & Madu in Berawa because of its open-air layout. Weekend crowds change the plan, so our weekend brunch spots page suggests alternatives.

Good to know

Nude's listed 7am to 10pm window is single-sourced, so confirm it before a laptop morning.

Costs and Price Tiers

We have no sourced 2026 price list, so we compare tiers only. Local warungs are the cheapest option, and our local warung meals page covers them; cafes sit above that, and tasting-menu restaurants sit above both. Check each venue's own menu or Google Maps listing for current rupiah prices.

Timing and Getting Around

Plan one area per morning. A sample half-day in Berawa: coffee at Nude on Jl. Pantai Berawa No. 33, then a walk to Milk & Madu at No. 52 for a late brunch. Ride-hail or a scooter makes the short hops easy, though parking and traffic around Canggu are the main friction. Weekend mornings are the likely peak, and we'd arrive early or go mid-week. No source we reviewed confirms whether these cafes take reservations, so ask the venue directly.

Mistakes to Avoid

Sponsored

Do not cafe-hop across areas in one morning. Canggu to Seminyak alone is a traffic-dependent 15 minutes, and Ubud is a separate trip. Do not assume wifi or air conditioning, because only some venues advertise them. Do not trust old opening hours, since single-source times go stale. If you want cooking or other food experiences, see the hands-on cooking class option instead of adding another cafe.
